Filemaker Is Fuzzy

Problem upgrading from FM5

When I upgraded from Filemaker 5 to 6 (to get it on OSX), my font was fuzzy and the data imported with a smaller font, which is really annoying. The result is little fuzzy text that does not fit nicely into its boundaries.

I messed around with the font smoothing, but it doesn't help. The same problem happens on another Mac when I try the same program.

I don't know many people who use Filemaker, and apparently no one at my local Apple store does either, so I'm hoping one of you might help.

Sorry I can't be of more help -- I've tried to reproduce the error you described but can't get it to happen.

As general font advice for Filemaker, I found it was worth going into all my layouts and doing a "select all" then change the font from Geneva to Lucida Grande just from a general readability point of view.

My next step will be downloading a demo of FM7 to see if I have the same problem. This is frustrating.

Thanks for the reply.

Mac OS X is fuzzy overall. I love OSX but that blurriness was the worst part of the transition from OS9

- 10.2 is "very" fuzzy.
- 10.3 is much better on that.

You can improve things in the "System Preferences" menu.
Go to "Appearance" and check the last options.

I selected "Turn off text smoothing for font sizes 6 and smaller". Also, make sure you select the appropriate option for your type of monitor.

Hope this helps
