Finding up-to-date Software for the Macintosh

I often find myself being outdated with the software I am using, being a webmaster and such keeps me too busy to visit web pages all the time for product updates.

I wish all software had the functionality built in to check a server for the current version.

All these file archives are nice and all but they all seem to have thier own pros and cons. Macintosh users hide in their own niche markets when it comes to software archives and such.

Where can I find new software listed and updates so I am up to date and can easily find new software to try out. Theres thousands of shareware/freeware apps out there worth more than commercial boxed products.

I make it a point to browse through Tucows Mac downloads periodically... but I also use a lot of 'out of date' software. I find out about updates when the old stuff starts choking. ;)

A subscription to Macaddict will get you a ton of goodies (on CD) every month..it is also available at some bookstores (borders,compusa). Just make sure that you allocate several hours every time you plug the thing in. :)

I'm learning how to read my log access files on my web site and would like to get a log analyzer for the Mac. It also needs to be free or shareware. Any suggestions?

Analog is what I use for both of my machines. It is a very widespread log analyser if not the mostly used. It is free.

I hung up my Mac a couple of years ago, so I can't give any insight into the pros and cons of any of the candidates, but I'm sure other people here can.
