Apple announced today the transition from iTools service to .Mac was intact today. .Mac is 100.00/year service. All current iTools users are now converted to 60 day trial accounts and will expire out/become non-functional after the time period is reached without paid subscription.

What does .Mac [mac.com] getcha?
Anti-Virus Software (Virex)
Backup Utility (Backup)
100 Megs Space
Email account
etc. for those with their @Mac.com emails check out Apples FAQ [mac.com]

I already have antivirus software and its not virex, i have backup tools and web space. I am losing my email account because i wont shell out 100.00/year :( .Mac isn't for me but i think it will fill the needs for other people :) posted on BestBBS v3.035

I knew that was too good to last. They ought to at least keep free email available through mac.com, IMO.

E-Mail should stay free so they can keep pushing them via email to subscribe to the service. I think they know that too - so I think they will let people keep the email ;) i think at this point people are paying couz their scared to lose all their stuff. and they know it.
