I'm going to drop this in here in the hopes that one of the Mac people have an idea.

I need an FTP program for an OS 9x box, for one of my clients. I'm 90% Mac iliterate, they're 99% computer illeterate (they know how to run outrageously complicate cad/cam, but beyond that, they're mystified by computers).

I need a SIMPLE FTP program for their OS 9x box, to ease file xfers between us. Already have an FTP server to use, just need a simple standalone FTP protocol (preferably opensource, or freeware), so they can upload to server.

The fewer features the better, No need to confuse them with too many choices.

Do a search for Fetch. We have been using it for many years and it is great. The current version (4.0.3) is backward compatible to System 7.x per their web site.

Yep, Fetch is about as simple as you get.

I used to use FETCH when I was OS 9 works great, but the new version costs $25 after the trial.

download version 3.03 (link is on the above page), I think that version is still FREE

thanks. With endorsements like that, I'll take your word on blind faith and hope I can install it, and figure it out on the fly while the client is looking over my shoulder, and be able to explain it to them in under 5 minutes.

I don't have a mac of my own to test it on.

All this because I'm basically sick of sneaker-netting Zip disks back and forth between their office and my place. They cover the costs, fine, but it can really slow down the process.

And when I mentioned FTP the other day, they responded with "Yeah, our clients keep telling us to FTP something, but it just seems so complicated..."

*sigh*

Some people, you practically have to bend over and paddle their butt to force them into installing even the simplest of time saving software. If its something they've never used, they just plain fear it.
