I just need to know how to maintain and optimize a machine run with Mac (like how windows has defragmenter and scandisk, etc).
I also need to know good security measures (like windows has the XP firewall and applications compatible with windows and all taht) what does mac have in the way of that?
(I need to write this on my site to novice users to people who are much more advanced, not to mention I have to be able to understand it to a degree)

An (arguable) straight answer would be Mac users dont need this stuff in their way.
We just push the buttons, and it works, no worries, viruses, scumwares, spywares, flaws, firewalls, security expert fees and time waiste. We just compute, with nothing in the way.
But I think both domestic and professional Mac users dont really need to worry about security or maintenance for their machines.
I used some utility for 'maintenance' some years back, but the only time it was really useful was to restore files I should have not trashed. I have stopped using it for maintenance since then with no ill effects. I saved a lot of time not worrying about 'errors' wich have no consequences, since then.
I used Northon utilities on Mac OS 6 to 8.6, and never used it on OS 9.
Some people use Macaroni on Mac Os X to automate Unix maintenance.

like MacGuru said, OS 8 & 9 sort of benefit from something like Norton Utilites for defragging, but it really is not necessary unless you do large amounts of file creation and deletion. OS X does not need to be "defragmented", but there is the option to "Repair Permissions" under the Disk Utility that is built in. This usually fixes anything that gets wonky.
Third party apps like COCKTAIL and MACJANITOR can also accomplish the built-in UNIX maintenance programs that run once a day by themselves anyways.

OS X is the best security measure there is.
There is a built-in Firewall, but it is OFF by default because all the ports not needed are CLOSED (unlike Windows which comes shipped with them OPEN), as you ENABLE certain services,such as File Sharing,you can enable the Firewall for that particular port.
Applications compatible with Mac OS X? I don't understand that one. If an app is not "compatible" it won't run.

Novice users won't need any of the Maintenance or Security info, seriously, that's why they bought a Mac in the first place. Advanced users will most likely know all the things needed, certainly more than I do and it would help if you were WRITING content about Maintaining a Mac or Security on a Mac if you actually USED a Mac.
The most helpful and useful Mac sites that I frequent are run by other Mac users.
OS X seems to have all that Unix robustness and needs little fussing over.
I may prod alil more if I can think of anything else, for now it seems as if MAC and *nix are indestructable ^.~
