I'm a recent beginning user of OS10 mail. When I send out a email it repeats sending it hundreds of times. I reinstalled the OS, but it doesn't correct the problem. Any suggestions as to how to remedy this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've never heard of this happening. I looked around to see if anyone else has reported this type of problem and couldn't find any similar reports. So, I would need more details to help you troubleshoot the problem. OS version, mail.app version, sequence of events. Can you replicate the problem or was it a one time error? Does the error occur when sending mail to any address or only a specific person? Did the recipient report the error or did your computer give some indication it was doing it?

You might try registering for a free email account, setting up Mail to use that, and see if the problem persists.

The OS is 10.1, and the mail application is the standard one that came with the system (mail name?) Since I experienced this problem after the initial set up, I have not sent a email to anyone other than myself. I have two addresses, and when I send to one of them it gets deposited into the in-box four times. When I send to the other address it gets deposited into the in-box hundreds of times. When I am sent a email from another party, I receive it twice. These irregularities are consistent each time. Contrary to my initial post, it seems that the email I send is only going out once, but the problem with the multiples is at my receiving end. I am not experiencing any of these problems with the OS 9.2 outlook express on a separate partition, which I have had to rely on in place of the problematical OS10.1 mail. Perhaps it is time to install a newer OS10 version, and hopefully it will solve the problem? Thanks very much for the assistance.

Have you considered upgrading to the most recent os (10.3.4)? We are always finding strange anamolies like this on our machines that are cured by recent upgrades.
