Drawings of a hand-held device were originally patented in 1992 by a Florida man. After subsequently failing to renew the patent, the man is now suing Apple for $10 billion using copyright law.

The man seems to think he has a strong case, however, others are not so sure. I'm not so confident as the similarities are there, but not really so close.

I remember discussing something similar to this with a business colleague way back in the '80s, but I really don't think I would have a leg to stand on, so, i'll pour myself another cup of tea and move on.

The acronym PDA and the related phrase were coined by Apple to describe the Newton device, development of which began in 1987 and was shipping by 1993. So yeah, this guy probably doesn't have a chance.
