Apple Releases iOS 4.2 For iPad, iPhone & iPod Touch [apple.com]
Apple® today announced that iOS 4.2, the latest version of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, is available today for download for iPad™, iPhone® and iPod touch®. iOS 4.2 brings over 100 new features from iOS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 to iPad including Multitasking, Folders, Unified Inbox, Game Center, AirPlay® and AirPrint.

“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”

You sounds a tad defensive there, Mr. Jobs.

Still, it's an impressive piece of work. Now, to get an iPad or not? I cannot decide.

I'm gonna take a look at Samsung's Galaxy Tab. AT&T and Verizon reportedly sell the iPad for $629 with the same data service plans as the Samsung's product, but Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Tab price is cheaper and I already have a contract with Verizon, soooo....

I couldn't find much info on what updates were made for the iPhone. Lots of goodies for the iPad (many of which were already on the iPhone), but no significant new things for the phone.

I'm looking forward to having two apps open at once. That doesn't seem innovative to me, more like fixing an extremely obvious annoyance :).

Steve Jobs decided. You can do that when you elevate your own status to 'god like'.

Lol Seb7, Don't tell the boys at Nasa that, space debris might land in Mr Jobs backyard.

I guess if you don't have an iPhone this is a pretty big deal because you haven't seen the features before. There's isn't that much that's really new. If you're an iPhone owner, you've pretty much seen it already. The only big new thing is the ability to print to [a special HP and only HP] printer. (The most advanced mOS can't communicate with iTunes and have it send print jobs?) The biggest disappointment to me is that even though they gave us iPhone 4 owners a slew of new text alert sounds, you STILL cannot add custom sounds without jailbreaking.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd have jailbroken LONG before I had so many awesome apps. If I could transfer my purchased apps, I'd jailbreak today.

Mr Jobs.

Against my own will I have begun to love my iPhone... please don't make me regret my decision for life by FIXING iTunes for me.

Thanks to you

Well I did the update and STILL no ability to create a folder in your photo album and no ability to move photos to other albums.

I guess all 1000 or so photos I have taken with my phone will have to remain jammed into 1 directory.... so stupid!

Each time I want to look at a photo it takes longer and longer to load the Thumbnails because they are all jammed into 1. ARG
