I haven't been able to find any info. It seems for most webmasters it has been cost prohibitive and I haven't found anyone that's used it. I need to run Mysql so i can convert my site from html to database. My site is currently 3 mgs and growing an we have just added video and will be adding a lot more. Also how does X-serve G4 compare to X serve G5? Worth the extra money? Since they are both about double what a comparable PC would be any info would be much apperciated. Thanks!

I read that as 3 megabytes... Is that right. Sounds really small. You can run MySQL on any Mac that has OS X. Might try it out on your own before spending the bucks for an X Serve. I don't have one, but have seen them. Also have only heard good things.

Here's a site listing organizations that host Web sites on OS X (don't know if they use XServe:

jonknee is right that any Mac running OS X might do for your purposes. I develop sites on my 1 GHz iMac using mysql and serving video among (among other things) and it is more than adequate.

How much traffic to your site do you expect?

Right now we do about 3.8 million hits per month on out oldest an most established. We also host about 4 other sites and plan to expand significantly in this area.

Great Question. I am have been pricing servers for a move to dedicated hosting. I have been comparing the X4 and X5 with PC's and SUN boxes. I am willing to go the extra price for the X4 if the reliability is there, but does anyone know where the metrics are?
