Using VPC to connect to internet

Because of a project I am doing I needed to connect to the internet using Explore from a Windows environement.

So, I just purchased and installed Virtual PC 6.1 Windows XP and can not connect to the internet. I am using a G4 running 10.3.2

I am using the Shared Networking option from VPC and have followed the internet options setup for explorer but no matter what web page I enter into explore it can not find it.

For trouble shooting I tried pinging sites from the command promt in VPC

At the command prompt I tried to ping web pages and at first I could
not ping a site but after manually entering my DNS information in VPC I could
now ping sites. So I know I can see the outside world through Virtual
PC so to speak.

How come I can ping sites but explore can not find sites? Any help
would be appreciated.

A second trouble shooting step was to see if I could send email using VPC Outlook. I was able to successfully send email but not receive. I am not concerned about trouble shooting that issue I just wanted to know if I could contact the outside world.

For my situation I need to be able to use Explore from VPC but have had no luck. Hopefully somebody has a suggestion.

Thanks,
Gordon
