"Oh, it never can handle Macs," I was told. "Don't know why." We used another machine, which actually turned out better, but... Anyone else seen this? Got a clue on how to overcome? I don't like having to borrow a cup of Internet...
At what level did it fail?
The attitude they exhibited is kinda strange. I wonder if they would have the same attitude if it were their parking lot that didn't work for one brand of cars.
Mac's typically have no trouble getting on any authorized network, so it should be relatively simple for them to find the problem.
At customers I try not to connect to their networks. It can only lead to trouble and I prefer to use my own 3G connection instead should I need it.
As I recall, there were instructions for Linux and Window users. But, with my hosts saying, "Macs can't connect, let's go to an office...," I didn't get to read what it said.
They had a wireless signal for "guests" and one with the company name. We tried both, so it failed before the sign-in.
This was a major corporation--a NYSE-listed corporate headquarters, so I agree, kind of weird.
I've worked for a while in a business center that gave out a .bat to be able to print on their copiers. They too said "doesn't work on mac", but just looking at what the batch file did (basically smb with authentication) and then googling a bit meant that I had it working a few hours after I arrived. Their IT support asked me -and I told them- multiple times how to get it working, but it seems they just passed it on, didn't bother to try to understand it, or even keep a copy for the next mac user they had as customer...
