The 1GHZ Emac

Has anyone purchased it yet?

Just wondering if anyone has purchased this yet. I CAN'T WAIT to get into Mac OS X. (I had used OS 9 with a 333mhz lime Imac previoiusly) but since my grandparents got REALLY interested in computers I decided to give it to them as a xmas gift.

Now I'm running stupid windoze again ARGH! lol.

Anyways, anyone here purchase the Emac and can you give me any reviews PLEASE! (any gaming reviews if you could also please :-)

I don't have the emac but you're definately going to love OS X. It has stability and usability that blows OS 9 away, not to mention Windoze. The emacs look decent. You really can't lose when buying a Mac.

I have a 800Mhz eMac and love it. Very satisfied. Can't say about games - never play them.

Sorry MacHeads - I have both OS X on a laptop and Windows XP Pro, and I will say that XP is superior unless you plan on upgrading Photoshop etc to the OS X versions.

I have Photoshop 6 on my Mac with OS X and it feels like it takes 100 years to run the "classic environment".

Pound for pound they are just about equally stable, in my experience.

I have the 1 Ghz eMac with 512 Mb RAM. Got it back in September and I LOVE it! Slick, powerful, and solid.

I use it mostly for web development and search engine optimization, but I also play the occasional game. (Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne kicks a**) It also acts as a file server (through Samba), mail server (with fetchmail, imap and pop3 accounts), and development server (with cvs and Bugzilla)!

I also own a PC (1.8 Ghz P4, 512 Mb, WinXP Pro SP1) and while it has its stregths, I find that I am enjoying my computing experience much more when working on my Mac.

My personal thanks to everyone who has (and anyone who in may in the future) reply to my post. I can't wait and it looks like all my $$$ crunching will be for GOOD! 2 weeks and WOOPEE! I'll get me an Emac :)

I have a 700Mhz eMac with 10.3.2 and use it every day for web development, seo, music ... and find it to be more than acceptable for speed and stability. This machine was fast on Jaguar, but installing Panther made it feel like I had upgraded the CPU or something, the difference was so obvious.

I also play the odd game of RTCW, MOHAA and Ghost Recon - all of them perform very well indeed. Just stick in as much RAM as you can afford. You'll love it!
