IE on mac OSX vs OS9

if you display the following link on IE5 for OS9 you'll see the proper effect of layers (the text overlapping the skull background):

when we view it on OSX in internet explorer5, however, the layers are not respected and the newsletter portion jumps to the top with the skull background being pushed to the bottom.

it works on all other browsers -- just not IE5 when used on OSX. does anyone have a fix?

This doesn't seem to be the only problem with IE on Mac OS X. I've found that pages which contain justified text with some words in italic and others in bold in the same paragraph give a curious result in this config: when you pass the mouse over javascript links (outside the text in question) IE on Mac OS X progressively shuffles the text until it's got the style change on a line break.

I've never seen this happen on the pages in question when tested with any other browser or OS. I don't think many people use IE on Mac OS X except for the few sites that they know won't work with Safari, or whatever is their favorite browser.

I'd like to beg to differ on the last part, IE has been around much longer than Safari and many users still haven't switched over yet. Safari still has a few problems to iron out... for now I'm between the two but I imagine, based on my own habits, that there are still many users using the IE that ships with OS X.
