I just inherited a Mac G3 powerpc on 10.2 software. I also have an older powerbook on 9.2. I would like to install my 9.2 software on the the PowerPC, because the software it came with is missing the fun stuff I have on my laptop.

My question is:
is the laptop software (9.2) compatible with the powerPC? And/or can I load the 10.2 on my laptop?

Any help, will be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Yes, OS 9.2.2 is compatible with the G3. You may find it runs much better than System 10.x

I dunno -- depends on how old the "older" laptop is.

I'd look on apple.com for comprehensive answers ...

Check you don't have an OS 9 install on the machine already - a G3 machine has quite likely seen a few updates to get it to 10.2.

In System Preferences in 10.2 there should be an icon called Startup Disk or similar - see if it has an OS9 folder it can boot from. Alternately hold down the ALT key (Option key) before turning on to select a system folder to boot from.
