USB Question

G3/G5 what version USB?

Hi All,

My question is not web page related, but i need some mac gurus to help me out.

I have a B&W G3 and i have a G5 on the way.

What versions of USB do these two machines use and what is the difference? The reason i ask is, i need to buy some USB extension cords and i don't know which ones to get.

Any info?

Both the G3 and G5 use the same old plain vanilla USB for low bandwidth peripherals. Apple never adopted USB 2 because it already introduced FireWire for high bandwith goodies.

WHAT? The new G5s have three USB 2.0 ports:

If its just cables you're concerned about then don't worry, all USB cables will work fine at USB 2.0 speeds, check the link:

That's what i just found out. I think i'll go with the USB 2 cables just to be on the safe side.
