MAC and Favicon

Does it work?

Simple question, I guess...
MAC users are telling me that my favicon (OK in IE and FF) does not show on MACs

Any idea? Is it supposed to be fine on Safari?

I just tested 3 browsers on a Macintosh and the favicon displayed as expected. Do you know what version of safari is having problems?

Safari does display standard favicons.

But is this a new favicon? Becuase it might be a caching problem.

From the PhotoshopSupport website:

Safari for the MAC will not display an updated favicon until the browser cache has been cleared.

I tend to use a couple of icon resources. I do the standard 32-square Windows .ico, and I also create a 16-square PNG.

In the head, I put the following:

<link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="images/shortcut.png" />

That works on Macs. I use a Mac.

My partner uses a MAC
One of the newer site we deal with was released a couple of days ago
I had a css problem and it was breaking in Safari
I fixed it, he forgot refreshing then did it to see the new release
So we know that it was refreshed
But he is an illustrator/designer and asides drawing and using Photoshop
He acknowledges that he is not a computer tech guy
Even after 15 years of designing with MAC :)

So how on a MAC do you clean all caches and start fresh
I had him getting a PC to look at stuffs from a PC stand point of view
I guess I could do the same with a MAC and learn about it
Using PHP and MySQL and Linux I guess I could get on MAC fairly easily?

My Favicon shows in FF but not yet in IE7
for some reason the last I did took a few days before reaching IE!
