I bought a printer recently with a scanner/copier but it would only work in a fully functional capacity on my windows machine. I could print to it from the Mac but not use the scan/copy functions. So that one's at the windows machine in the other room but I would like a printer that's fully functional (i.e. has support software written for) with a Mac. Any suggestions?

I use a Brother MFC-8840D on my Mac, and it's nearly fully functional. The only issue I have is scanning by hitting the scan button on the machine. Scanning from within Photoshop works fine. Everything else works fine, also -- printing, copying, faxing (both from hard copy and from within an application).

For all I know, scanning by hitting the scan button would work if I messed with the settings a little, but I haven't bothered, as scanning from within Photoshop serves my scanning needs. Or it's possible Brother has updated the driver for it -- I haven't checked lately.

I also use that machine to receive faxes -- I have my system preferences set to save incoming faxes as a pdf file on my hard drive, and to e-mail them to me. No wasted paper or toner from all the crap faxes I get.

Oh, and I also have it set up so that I can print to it from my Windows machine as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've looked around a bit and am considering the 'Canon PIXMA MP530 Office All-In-One Photo Printer with Fax' since it is featured on Apple's store (which I hope means it's fully functional with Macs).

I set up an HP 3055 the other day for a client. Everything worked from the Mac..scanning, copying, etc with the included software...he is happy with it.

we bought my Mom a new printer and got the pixma ip4300, works very well. I know that doesn't have the scanner but it is in the same line as the mp530.

We looked at all of those canon models and they all seemed very good.
