There are some apps out there for Scanning OS 9 and OS X. You might try looking around SecureMac.com [securemac.com]
You might also dig around on TechTV.com [techtv.com] They have some really good Shows/Articles about Macs on a fairly regular basis and are good about posting that info to there site.
If you are having password safety issues it is most often a Keylogger and those can be found in the Extensions folder of OS 9 if you have one. Well that is the most common type anyway.
Antivirus software titles do not pick up spyware, at the most they will delete cookies or web cache which is a nice privacy function. Heck most AV software titles don't work right to start with and don't detect all the viruses out there and there arnt that many new viruses for the macintosh ;)
You could also get a Hotmail account and turn-on the spam filter, or use Apple's Mail program to sift out spam (although personally I find the program flakey).
I once advised a friend to get the email address:-
AutoDeletingSpamBucket@Yahoo.com
I don't know if he did, but he hasn't mentioned spam since!
