Hello folks,
This is driving me nuts. I have a website with a standard form. I have the perl script FormMail (from NMS sourceforge) configured and installed in the cgi-bin folder as FormMail.pl. It's not working. I think the problem is I have to execute the file permission for the perl script? On a unix machine this is chmod 755 right? But this website is running on a MAC G3 (OS 9) using the WebStar 4D server suite. How do I chmod 755 on this? Do I need to? Is there a WebStar command to execute file permissions do get a perl script like FormMail up & running?

Thanks & regards

Upload the file to webstar, chmod to 0755 using your ftp programm (best is fetch). Use UNIX line breaks and upload as ASCII! Also, check the server settings (using Web* Admin) and set up a appropriate action / realm for pl / cgi and formmail.

However, i highly recommend updating to OSX and Web* 5.3! (!)

I just upgraded three months ago and i'm still amazed - it's damn fast, rock solid and much more flexible than Web* 4. You can use flexmail to set up form processing / mailing very very easy! Also the CGI, Perl and PHP support is much better.
