I'd like to get a cheap 2nd hand Mac to use for testing web pages. I've used, but not owned, Macs before - can anyone recommend a supplier?

I'm thinking of poss. a G3 or iMac with >=128MB so I can run OSX. Any advice gratefully received...

I'd try ebay - they most times have a lot of auctions with recent models and sometimes really cheap prices.

I think you are on the right track with a G3 iMac w/128MB RAM (RAM is cheap so you can add more easily, but I would go with a later model iMac because RAM is cheaper for it and easier to install). If you can, get OS X when you buy it. If all you are going to do is check web pages, then you need something that does not take up much room, and does not break the bank. The iMac is the way to go.

As for where, pick up a major Mac magazine and look in the back--there are 2 or 3 major places that sell old models. Also eBay is a good place. Make sure to ask about the condition of the monitor, as they do burn-in sometime.

Maybe once you own it, you will see how nice it is, and switch! ;)
