CAD Software on Mac

Just need to view, not create

Can anyone recommend a Mac software program that will allow me to view .dwg files that have been sent by a client? I can't open them in P'Shop nor G'Converter, and all of the CAD software I'm finding online assumes that I want to CREATE CAD files (and that I want to spend several hundreds of dollars for the privilege), when all I need to do is view these.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Might be difficult if you don't want to buy at least some simple CAD program. If your client can send you DXF instead, that might open up a few more possibilities. Actually, if they were smart, they'd print them into PDF for you (assuming it's all 2D, and you don't need to walk around in a model).

Doesn't Illustrator open .dwg files?

We don't do a lot of Illustrator stuff here, so the most recent version I have is 7.0 ... and it won't open them, either.

Yeah, that's a pretty old copy - the current version does open dwg files.

Can you get the client to save the files as CorelDraw files - that might be a lot easier for you to get open...
