Hello Everyone, I'm working with an IT company from last 6 months trying to rank a keyword < specific keywords removed - please see Charter [webmasterworld.com] >. Both the keywords have high KD. Tried all the off page and on page practice. Site is fully optimised i.e no AMP issue, mobile usability issue etc. But the keywords are not coming down from 5-6th page. Also, the owner don't want it region based for eg. Best widget company in india Now what all i can do to make it rank. please guide. Your valuable suggestions will be helpful.

Hello-

Did you study all the sites "above" your? Try to find a "legitimate" reason these sites are ranking higher than your own site. Also, keep in mind that, optimizing a site for a given keyword, doesn't mean you'll necessarily rank #1 for this keyword, ... and thousands of other sites are certainly trying to achieve the same.

What can be done to make it rank? Determine what factors your competitors are managing better that yours and put more effort into those factors.

I am having trouble seeing how this is related to the topic of local search since
the owner don't want it region based
and that does matter for local search success.

Avoiding regional terms means you are competing for local success against the world's best competitors rather than only local or regional businesses. If the owner is seeking to grow or expand into a wider area, ideally they should try to be at the top locally or regionally first.

The owner needs to be educated that it is not possible for more than 10 entities to rank on page 1 for the best (the most searched and most converting) keywords. Even if the company is national, find ways to create regional content, particularly cities where there is less competition.

@rashiii ... Welcome to Webmasterworld!

How old is the site? How much content is available? Is it a product/service type site, or educational? Does the company already have a reputation in the local area?

Getting on page two in difficult, getting on page one is nearly impossible, but can be done if the company actually has a local/regional business relationship in the "community".

Investigate the business listings options for the search engines and see if that might move things along.
