Google is now allowing users on Google Maps for Android to "follow" places from within the app.

Once a user taps the "follow" button, as the place the user is following creates an event or an offer, it'll appear in the For You tab. Currently, this is a limited roll out, with more countries to follow.

It's also adding a new places opening profile.
Places that are opening soon can create a free Business Profile that will appear to people up to 3 months in advance of opening—letting trendsetters know ahead of time to mark their calendars. The feature is rolling out over the next few weeks and places interested in making sure their coming soon locations are shown on Maps and Search can get started with Google My Business

The 3 biggest hogs on my Android phone belong to Google:

Maps 167 MB
Youtube 122 MB
Chrome 567 MB

And then there's the massive cache they each build. The bloat just keeps coming.
