I found my local listings were wrong on White Pages and found the only way to get them changed is to pay for the Yext service. Is there any way change White Pages without paying Yext? Also is Yext worth anything? It does seem nice to be able to have a single place to view everything. Also we changed the name of our company and URL which I need to change everywhere. The company name just dropped one word and the address and phone are still the same.

In Australia Yext has been building alliances with larger directory partners, so they seem to in for the long haul. Have you tried to report it as a "member of the public"? They also have an interest to remain credible to the users of the WP.

you should look for the local search ecosystem graphic to understand how yext influences local, directly and indirectly, such as yelp, facebook, and apple maps.

I went ahead and used Yext. I mainly used it because we were using it because the name of the company had changed. The company is a list of names. One of the names was removed. We also changed the URL of our company website. The problem is that for some reason they decided to create all new profiles instead of fixing the old ones. They said it would not happen if 2 of 3 factors were the same. Our phone number and address had not changed but they could not figure that out. So now I have to go to each one individually and send an email to yext to consolidate each one. It is still better than me having to do it even with this extra work.

See the graphic "local search ecosystems" which is a lead in page to moz.com local which makes similar claims to Yext.

Yahoo Localworks also claims basically the same. See:
[smallbusiness.yahoo.com...]

Like Yext, both of the above want a monthly fee for what is presumably an update that's needed only occasionally.
