Several months ago we received a phone call from a young woman who asked to come by our main store and take pictures for G Places. On the agreed day she took about 30 shots of the outside and inside of the retail portion of our HQ. She took no pictures of our office and warehouse. No employees or customers were photographed. She asked some questions about our operation, hours, credit card accepted and the like.

Her camera had some video capability. She walked slowly thru the center of our store from the front door to the back while holding down the shutter. (kinda like an indoor version of Streetview, perhaps)

I was told about 20 of the pictures would appear in our Google Places page in about three months. So far that hasn't happened.

Anyone have G pay them a photo visit like ours?

I've heard of this pilot program, but I haven't heard many specifics from business operators directly such as yourself.

Google announced the program on their blog some time ago:

It sounds like you are a retail store? Google stated that they are focusing mainly on a few business categories for this program.
