Need help with local search

Hey :-)

Questions.... i've done local stuff back when it was google places, and the business was clueless and just needed to go claim all these local listings. Haven't done anything else in a few years

now places is goog+ and im doing some tech work with a company that has just started up a fresh office location about 20 miles from the other. So no listings to claim, nobody knows it exists until they make it.. what is the best way to do this? start making a fresh local listings for that area?

Did you call me out in the title? I saw a post titled just "Linda" in my feedreader. But I guess a mod changed the thread title. (Anyway, it got my attention.) :-)

Anyway TONS has changed sine you did Google Places. Pretty much everything is different and now the unified backend dashboard is called Google My Business.

To start a new listing - be sure Google did not already create one. If you can't find one then do this.

1st set up a few citations on major sites like Insider Pages, Dex, YP etc. Just a few. Make sure they are live. That way when you set up the GMB listing and Google does out to spider to be sure the business is real and live - she'll find some traces of it.

Then here is a really simple free guide Google just put out that will walk you through how to set up a new listing.

awesome thank you very much! yes I did call you out and i guess a mod changed it... anyone could have answered it really but when I think of local stuff you are the 1st one that comes to mind.

just a heads up, insider pages is now no longer accepting new business listings.

looks like whitespark went paid only as well.. any other free citation tools you know of?
