Help!When Install Gentoo...

How can gentoo recognize my USB keyboard & mouse?

After i burn my 2cds, i reboot my computer.
And then, just like the guide said,

"Once the boot process completes, you will be automatically logged in to the "Live" Gentoo Linux as "root", the "super user". You should have a root ("#") prompt on the current console and can also switch to other consoles by pressing Alt-F2, Alt-F3 and Alt-F4. Get back to the one you started on by pressing Alt-F1. "

But gentoo can't recognize my USB mouse and keyboard, so i got bogged down-i can't type anything...
I really need help.

I'm confused by gentoo.
When i select the kernel: gentoo.
The usb keyboard can use.
But under
cdimage root#
I can't use anything...
Someone can tell me why?
