Yea, I did that to first. But I have been trying to get to bitdefender dot com to download the edition, but I can't connect. Guess I will just have to wait a bit.

Thanks for the reply though.

Nope, not for me. I have been trying for the last few hours on and off. I cannot connect to that site. I connect to every other site fine, but I cannot connect to that site or their German site. Very strange. I sent in an e-mail to them. Maybe I'll be lucky and someone will be there today... Well, probably not.

May I ask why you think you need one?

Are you really looking for virus protection, in the true sense of the term? Or are you looking for something to protect from "trojan" programs installed by people who crack your machine?

I ask because I have truely never felt I needed Linux Virus scan software, and am wondering whether it's time I re-evaluated my stance.

Just trying to cover all bases. I am switching from a Windows platform to almost all Linux platform, and do not want to take unneccessary actions if I do not have to. One problem with Linux though, my laserjet, scanner, and sound card are not compatible. I just wish that more manufacturers would create drives for Linux users. I guess it is not mainstream as much as I thought yet.

You bet! We use ClamAV [clamav.net] and there's also www.openantivirus.org [openantivirus.org] (Although I'd recommend you check out ClamAV first -- It's coded in C, and not in Java. ;)

Hope that Helps,
