Hi I need to get a server for dedicated hosting. Can build one or can buy one. What should I get and what is the cost?

Are you hosting yourself?

What kind of bandwidth do you have, and what does the server need to host? What is your likely traffic level?

We would stick it in our ISp's rack. They have 10 meg I believe.

At the moment we have a 1 meg but it is a wireless connection and there is an annoying second delay before downloading anything..

I would stick with what your ISP is already using if they'll be maintaining. You don't want a machine in there with a NIC of a brand that they do not hold spares for.

They'll also probably be able to give you the best price given that it's going in their rack.

Or should I take it that this host is purely a bandwidth and rack space provider?

You will still need to consider the type and number of sites that the machine will be hosting in order to make a decision on the actual PC.
