Fonts not showing in GIMP - How to check/fix?

Hi all,

if I run

chkfontpath
I get a whole bunch of stuff including my freefont and sharefont installations.

BUT, they do not show up in GIMP 1.3.17 and I have no idea of how to go about checking to see what could be wrong with the installation of the fonts, GIMP or whatever....

Can someone help get me on the right path here?

Many thanks...

Nick

It's a PITA.

The easiest answer is just to install the FreeType plugin for GIMP, and be done with it.

Yeah, I tried that. No joy. (but my thanks for answering).

I have actually done it: After weeks of searching and swearing someone just 10mins ago emailed me the answer.

1.3 uses fontconfig. You just need to go add the directories (sharefont/freefont) to /etc/fonts/font.conf

That bloody simple, makes me sick! ;)
