Is it a problem when the website log files are not geting back-upped comprezzed at all like ;tar.gz and grow to size of 800MB+

are there bad things about having big log files.
other then that it take long time to download . will it be bad for server quality stability?

what are benefits on having log files backuped at 50mb?

Shouldn't be an issue as long as you have enough disk space.

The only thing that will slow down are scripts which analyse logs and such.

We reset logs on the 1st Sunday of each month and some do go way over 800MB without a problem.

Ok thanks thats all i wanted to know ..

so the bigger the log files are no problem unless if you need webspace ...

but many hosting companies do not count the size of log file as your account disk space ...

yes indeed a problem if you want to analize or download your log file.

lets say my server is not backing up the log files.
how can ihave them backuped?

should contact hosting company
