GRUB cannot arrow up and down

Dual boot set up, cannot select....

I had to reinstall RH 9
and I did let GRUB writing to my XP MBR in order to create a dual boot capability by using GRUB booter

I have no problem to load in the default OS (On that machine:XP, if I let go the 6 seconds delay)
I have no problem loading RH by using a floppy booter

As you know in order to let the user select an OS
GRUB offers by harrowing up or down to perform that selection

On my machine, in GRUB mode I cannot use my keyboard or mouse they do not function!
Although if I let the 6 seconds passing then when I am in any OS the problem is gone mouse and keyboard are fine
Is there any fix?

Please if your machine has such a setup:
MS Natural keyboard ps/2k....
and that it came with a USB adaptor
Restart your machine in an environment that requires use of arrow up and down or left and right but where mouse does not work
Some place such as your BIOS and try to use the arrow
IT MIGHT NOT WORK, SO IF NEEDED IN EMERGENCY SITUATION YOU'LL BE LEFT IN THE DARK!
It happened to me, I tried updating driver etc... None of the above worked
Out of curiosity I removed the USB adaptor and restarted IT WORKED
