I have used webservers to generate pages and serve the users so far.

What if I want to learn how to set-up my own WebServer?

I want

1) WebServer

2) MySQL and PHP

3) Want to play with Apache (and mod_*, donno how many of them are out there)

I have reached to a conclusion that however much I read, there is nothing like doing it by myself.

The only issue that restricts me is Security.

How can I use the Firewall (built-in, to start with) to make it a safe experiment? FTP? or something else?

TIA

You said Linux 8, do you mean RH8?

[linuxguruz.org...]

There are some GUI managers for IPtables, I think the one I liked was called Guard Dog.
