A Linux vulnerability in Realtek (RTLWIFI) driver could give a bad actor in range full control over the device via WiFi.
It's only on a machine with the Realtek WiFi chip.

There's a fix proposed, but it's not yet patched. [lkml.org...]

The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2019-17666. Linux developers proposed a fix on Wednesday that will likely be incorporated into the OS kernel in the coming days or weeks. Only after that will the fix make its way into various Linux distributions.

It looks like its fixed.

Also, it may affect Android too - I do not know whether there are many Android devices with the hardware for the affected driver.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure how we'd know about the Android devices and whether it needs updating.
