For the full year, Red Hat's revenue was up 15 per cent over fiscal 2018 to $3.4bn, and net profit crossed the line at $434m, up 66 per cent from $261.8m a year earlier.

The $34bn buy of Red Hat by IBM is expected to close in the latter half of calendar 2019.

More properly a report on Red Hat's financial health, and a slight bump up in the deal price, there's no insight in what will actually happen after the deal closes.

I love the subtitle "Could it be that IBM has spent its money wisely for a change?".

I initially worried slightly about whether a merger between two major contributors might make a single company too influential, but neither contributes as much as I thought - even combined they will be roughly on par with Intel's 12 to 13+% of commits (although well ahead of anyone else).
