Hi all,

We currently are hosted through a company that we have no physical access to our servers or the drives. We are moving to another solution, however instead of re-installing our OS (ubuntu 10.04 LTS) and reconfigure everything and then load the site up, we are curious if there is a way to clone our setup via sudo ssh? Is is possible to create a separate partition, mirror the drive and TAR that entire partition (about 600GB)? Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks!

I would like to give a clue at least.

* if the systems and drives and partitions are the same, it could be possible. You have to synchronize the drives completely. To synchronize some drive without boot partition, you would have to boot up with some USB key for example. Partitions shall be setup in the same manner like the original drive. Boot partition shall be assigned correctly. Then synchronize it with rsync and by using correct options. After that you would have to install the grub/lilo to boot correctly on the new drive.
