kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

unable to boot red hat after installing....the error message which i am getting is

Unable to find volume group "VolGroup00"
ERROR: /bin/lvm exited abnormally (pid 213)
mount: error 6 mounting ext3
mount: error 2 mounting none
switchroot: mount failed: 22
umount: /initrd/dev failed: 2
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

...pls do help me out....thanks in advance

The kernel seems to be unable to find the location of your partitions on the disk.

Did this error happen directly after installation, or after some system changes? Also, what disk type is the system using, normal IDE/SATA, SCSI or some RAID configuration?
