Okay, I just picked up a new G4 with OS9 and X, I've got X11 running on it, but it is very limited.
What I'm looking for is a good linux distro, does anyone have any experience with Linux in this environment?
I really like the idea of a triple boot machine.

Debian has a PowerPC distribution. I have never used it, though.

No experience, but this is what I know on the subject... There is Yellow Dog which has a very good reputation, but I've never seen it in action. Debian seems to be very popular on MACs, there are a lot of howtos on the web about the Debian installation process.
I decided to stay "native", using Fink [fink.sourceforge.net], I was able to get a kde environment running (under darwin) and all the x apps I wanted.
I run 2 desktops at the same time (os x and kde) and can also run classic mac.
pretty cool.
I'll hold off on a Linux installation until I get another HD.

You have OS X, no need to go with Linux on the machine that the BSD core distro runs perfectly on :) Fink is a wonderful application and with all the UNIX apps out there and developers we're seeing more and more unix applications also compile properly on OS X without issues. :) Just send the developers notes about how you like their app and want to see it compile on OS X if it doesnt already.

I've done several installs with YellowDog. It's good.
