using ssh to connect

Connecting, but then nothing.

Hi, I am trying to switch from ftp to ssh for secure file loading on my new unix box. I am using dreamweaver MX and have downloaded the putty and plink extensions. I can login and connect, but then the server times out while i am waiting for the remote view.

Any ideas as to why?

Have you tried connecting via putty (without Dreamweaver) manually?

That may show you some error message or similar. When you first
connect to a remote host via SSH, you'll see something like :

Host key not found from the list of known hosts.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?

Just maybe (long shot, I know) Dreamweaver is getting stuck
at that point. Logging in manually would allow you to enter
"yes (only needed once).

If this isn't it at all, logging in manually may still give you clues/info to work with.

You may also want to try winSCP [winscp.vse.cz], it's layout should be very familiar to those who are use to using a gui FTP program.

Thanks. This seems to be a problem with DWMX because I can connect with other ftp software over SSH no problem using the same settings.

So for now I will use that.
