Samba and max file size?

I'm trying to transfer log files from a webserver to a backup machine using Samba. Both machines are running Mandrake 8.2, the backup machine is running the samba server, the webserver is mounting the backup share as a client.

All is fine when transferring small files, but when I try and copy anything larger than around 100Mb, the command fails with a 'maximum file size reached' error, and core dumps.

I've never come across this problem before - does it ring any bells with anyone?

NB: Since the backup machine is already running Samba for the windows clients on the network, I'd rather stick with that as the sharing mechanism than install another service such as NFS.

You have to try to transfer the file in another way to see if the limit is enforced by samba or by the OS.

Try to fransfer the file by hand with ftp or scp to see if it is possible.
