I have installed the crossover plugin and can use Windows media player to view wmv files, But I don't like using it. So..

I am trying to get mplayer to use the stream. The site I am using when you click the link it shows "http://somedomain.com/xxxxx.wmv" so when I click it, mplayer loads and dies. There is a redirect that actually streams from "http://otherdomain.com/xxxx.wmv". If I open the (redirect) url direct from mplayer it streams perfect.

Any Ideas on what I don't have set up right?

Hi David,

I just set up a media stream on our intranet, so the how to's are still fresh in my mind.

How did you want to show the media? Is it a link which opens media player, or are you going to embed the media into your webpage?
Also, is this a live feed or an existing movie?

What I am trying to do is client side. Using Galeon as my browser I want to be able to stream windows media player files in a player other then "MS Media Player".

I want to use an external player and it could be a movie or a live feed.

You'll have to mess with the default MIME application for that files. My distribution sets together defaults for many applications; these are (here) on a file named /etc/mailcap.

Or, if possible, change it directly on Galeon.
