Linux Connection Limits

Is there a Limit like win2000?

I am pretty new to Linux and am considering changing our network OS to it for varous reaons. One of them is the ten connection limit in win2k pro. Does Linux have any similar issues? I have searched the web for info but have only come across user quotas.

Are there any other issues that a relative newbie should consider when deciding to take the plunge? ( Sorry, I know this is a "How long is a piece of string question")

For what its worth the Win2K Pro 10 connection limit was engineered to deter people from attempting to deploy it as a server OS since it is cheaper than the w2k servers and offers virtually the same features at the lower end of the spectrum.

Cheers, we were aware of that but last year we were a small office. It wasn't worth spending any money on.

I should have been clearer in my post. We are currently using win2k and need to expand.

There are no artificial limits built into Linux.

The only issue you'll be facing is that Linux does certain things different than Windows, so you may have to relearn a few tasks. In the end, you'll find that the linux way is almost always more practical, though... ;)
