Use windows aps with Suse linux.

It apears that SUSE is making a move to try and sway home and office users to make the move from windows to linux. The new version of the suse OS will have suport for a wide range of windows software such as office and works.

It is a smart play for Suse to include the CodeWeaver utility, I am sure it will make a convert of some would be XP users. Yet, there are such good freely available office programs for Linux, it would be a shame if those users never explored the other options.

I tend to agree with you about the quality of the similar software that is already available within most linux distros,star office being a good example. It may be anough to sway users who where about to choose windows. The hardened linux users wont need this to make their minds up but it will get new users in the form of ex windows users.

I just recently bought the plug-in version of CrossOver for Mozilla, primarily to be able to view FlashMX. Apart from that, the Flash builder is the only Windows software that I really need my Vmware installation for at the moment. For everything else there are absolutely acceptable replacements available.

But I'm sure this isn't the case for everybody, and the CrossOver technology will be a really good solution for most of them. I'll have to try the full thing myself, to check out how big the resource savings are from not having to boot a full Windows system as with Vmware.
