Group Permissions with Dreamweaver

Hello,
I've been having some problems recently with a couple of directories on my server. I'm using Dreamweaver 8 and I am included in all the groups on the server. So when I click on a file (that is not checked out by someone else) a green checkmark appears that lets me know that I now have the file checked out. I can make changes and then put the file to the server.

However, for some strange reason a couple of directories are acting differently. When I click on the file (in Dreamweaver) a green checkmark does not appear. When I try to put the file I get the error

'An FTP error occurred - cannot put outreach.htm. Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.'

The permissions of the file are -rw-rw-r--. The directory has permissions of drwsrwsr-x. I am a member of that directories group. If I do a 'chown -R g+w directory' then I'll be able to put the files. However, I shouldn't need to do that since I should have wright capabilities since I'm in the group.

I would really appreciated any help on this matter!

One more thing,
I can ftp the file to the server outside of dreamweaver while using the same login. So that makes me think that this is a Dreamweaver problem.

Still...any help would be apprectiated!
