Linux ISO distributions don't work

Over the last week I have dowloaded and subsequently burned to CD the following distributions from the linuxiso site:

Debian 2.2 R6
Slackware 8.1
Mandrake 8.2
Peanut 9.3
Turbo Linux 7.0
SuSE Live-eval 8.0

The SuSE distro runs from CD, creating a couple of files to use as a home directory and to save settings. It worked flawlessly and is a pretty impressive release. It is intended to be used for evaluation purposes only, the ready to install to disk version 8.0 is available for purchase.

None of the other distros installed properly, they all were missing one file or another, and in general created hours of work to recover the machine back to a useful state. I am about to try one of the distro's again now (masochist I guess ...), have any of you had downloaded ISO distros actually install properly? any I've purchased have worked fine, hmmm.... wonder what that means?

Are you sure you downloaded all the files that you need...downloading a linux os is a very time consuming activity...

I think NFFC has done this with good results, but it was Mandrake 8.1.

Debian 2.2 R6 - Burned to 3 CD's (637 MB, 636MB, 466MB, respectively)
Slackware 8.1 - Burned to 1 CD (657MB)
Mandrake 8.2 - Burned to 3 CD's (650 MB, 649MB, 437MB, respectively)
Peanut 9.3 - Burned to 1 CD (235 MB)
Turbo Linux 7.0 - Burned to 2 CD's (531 MB, 517MB, respectively)
SuSE Live-eval 8.0 - Burned to 1 CD (644 MB)

I have entirely too much time on my hands ;)

Thanks little, I just started to wonder if anyone had success with ISO's, maybe NFFC can take a break from making up (funny I might add) stories about the "gizmo" to confirm -hehehe

I've downloaded many distros from ftp.linux.tucows.com and they all worked fine. Also, don't forget to check the md5 sums on your ISOs...

It went fine, only CD 1 though.

hmmm... I did skip the checksum step, maybe they are flawed downloads after all, I'll try again ... thx
