Server seams to have little free disk space

Cant quite work out what is using it all.

One of my local servers is only used for mysql. I recently checked up on disk usage and got a bit of a shock...

shmfs 503M 0 502M 0% /dev/shm

Acording to phpmyadmin the total mysql usage is 35gig. Is there any way to find out any other apps that might be eating into disk space.

Starting from the root directory,

du -s * ¦ sort -n

Will show you the directories taking the most space. Then you can narrow down into /var, /home, etc.
