Email autoresponders & bad addresses

I apologize if this isn't the correct forum, but it's the closest I could find to email :-)

I'd like to set up an autoresponder (actually a few) to return information quicker than I can get to it. What happens if someone enters a bad address? Is the software that handles the autoresponder smart enough not to send back to a bounce? What about someone entering the address to another autoresponder?
