I must be crazy, but hosting my own sites seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm using Fedora Linux Core 1 on a remote Intel box from a well-known hosting company and Plesk 7.04 (preinstalled, which is working pretty well so far) and the Max OS X Terminal as my SSH. However, I would like to use a GUI for basic root access. What do the Linux gods recommend? Also I hear O'reilly Linux books are good. Should I buy one, or search Google a lot? Also, what are the most common pitfalls I should be aware of? I appreciate the cooperative spirit of this forum. Thanks in advance!

I hear Fugu is a good, free, GUI for SSH.

It might be beneficial for you to look at the Macintosh Webmaster forum on this site. Lots of information regarding hardware/software and other things.

Thank you for your input. I'll check it out.

I also read in this forum that the Mandrake flavor of Unix/Linux (I'm not sure) was good for beginners as it had an integrated GUI. Any thoughts?
