WIN XP user mike pass mike. IP 192.168.0.20 gateway 192.168.0.1 and dns.
on Fedora I have set ip 192.168.0.33 gateway192.168.0.1 and dns. I can browse through internet just fine.
BUT............. no network yet.
I have created a username on Fedora called mike pass 123456
I have started the Samba configuration window and I have set:
workgroup mshome- as the one on win XP
security>authentication > user mode, encrypted password, and no guest.
I have created a samba user: unix username: mike windows user: mike samba pass 654321
Share: i have shared only for username mike /home/mike witg read and write permissions
And.. in mshome on win XP I can see pc called FEDORA, but I can't browse it.. it says ,, no permission or something like that.
What did I do Wrong? please help me guys.

So, the question comes down to: "Do you need to have user authentication?". If you don't, then set your security = "share". Then you can do away with passwords entirely. This may not be the functionality that you desire, since it allows everyone full access, but in many ways, allows you to get the shares working, and people off your back while you work out a solution to the full on user authentication.
