I'm trying to install a package (OpenNMS) on a RedHat 9 server. I'm appologize for these easy questions. When I try to install an application, I get a ton of dependencies (ie) gtk2, libgcj.so.5, glibc, etc, and every package I try to install has million dependencies.

(1) ** Is there a way to install the file and all dependent files?

(2) Should I use apt-get, wget, rpm?

(3) How do you know what the package name is? Alot of times with the failed dependencies, it just gives a generic name.

(4) Can Fedora files be used on RH?

(5) If I download the src.rpm, how does it compile?

I'm very appreciative of any help as you can tell I'm new. I'm trying to install OpenNMS and its a bear.

Thanks
